Koshari Korner

About Us

Since launching in 2016 as a pop up stall, Koshari Korner now officially has a home! Situated in Marrickville, one of the most vibrant Sydney suburbs, Koshari Korner has parked itself in the Addison Road Community Centre. A perfect addition to the rich tapestry and melting pot of cultures that is a quintessential characteristic of Marrickville.

It all started when Walid migrated to Australia and realised that Egyptian food, and particularly the iconic Koshari dish missing from the street food scene in Sydney. A marine engineer by trade, he went on to engineer the dish for Sydbey’s tastebuds with his late grandmother’s recipe in mind.
Koshari is an iconic vegan Egyptian vegan street food dish. An unusual combination, Koshari mixes lentils, pasta, and rice into a single dish topped with chickpeas, crispy onion rings and a fragrant tomato salsa.
Egyptians from all walks of life can usually be found gathered at Koshari carts on every corner of Egypt’s bustling streets digging into the hearty meal. Over the past three years, Sydney siders have warmed up to the hearty dish at Koshari Korner’s pop up stalls across various events and markets in Sydney and the Central Coast.
Koshari Korner has expanded its menu to include popular Egyptian menu items and is the perfect addition to the mouth-watering eateries in Marrickville featuring global cuisines.
